A “goal” may be just a dream to some whereas, for the other it may be a destination which they would like to reach in this endless journey of life.
Each one of us have our dreams, which could be converted into goals. Let it be unrealistic but it is up to us to make it realistic. We should always remember that nothing is impossible for us, which would help us in achieving our goals because, if we want to we could always do something.
In achieving your goal we should not let anyone stop us or discourage us. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” Eleanor Roosevelt. People may criticise but one should always know to handle the criticisms without being discouraged. You should always realise that it is your life and you know what you want. For some what you want may seem unrealistic but it is what YOU actually want and not what they want. You should always remember that you are special in some way. So once again each one of should remember not to let anyone stop us from getting what we want.
A goal will help us get where we want. Logically without a goal we would not know where we are heading. A simple example; When free education was introduced few years ago, the president at that time, President J R Jayewardene wanted to hand over the first set of free school books to the best student in the island. When he informed the education officers about this, they decided that the student who passes the grade 5 scholarship with highest marks will be the most suitable. Then the student who passed out with the highest marks was selected and he received the award. Years later, recently a group of researches wanted to find out what this student was up to and located him. When they went to see the student this students the student who was known as the brightest student in Sri Lanka was just sitting outside his house with no job and with no proper income at all. The obvious reason is that he did not have a goal in life. He studied because his parents wanted him to and after his parents passed away he was lost and did not know what to do. All the talent which he possessed went down the drain as he did not have a goal. So we should all make it a point to have a goal in life and do whatever we do in order to achieve that goal and not to satisfy anyone.
Finally have a goal in life, and do what it takes to achieve it no matter how long it will take and remember if you want to do it, you can do it and you will do it!!
