So far what is the most used social networking site? straight up, first place: Facebook

Facebook has provided us many valuable services, applications, privacy, and allows us to use their site to promote events, clubs, parties, views and opinions. It has let us to connect, meet and socialize with people better, and it ensure privacy settings for different sets of people.

Facebook offers us the following things:

Privacy within and for sets of people

Interactive Graphical User Interface

Applications for fun or boredom

Addictive, interesting games

Allows us to promote anything and everything

Allows us to speak and comment on opinions through notes

But as much as Facebook is fun, new, interesting, different, awesome, helpful and updated, some people misuse it’s contents and freedom. Some people tarnish the image of something so beautiful for their own benefit or because of jealousy. And some people just do not know how to use it in the proper way!

The reason why this topic was bought up was because of what is seen today. I have personally seen status as such, ” Rachel Smith is in the toilet.” or “Rachel Smith is off to Aussie.” Or “Rachel smith is about to have a wash.” Not only is it yucky, but it is called misuse of service. It is absolutely true that you can say anything you want and like in your status messages; It’s freedom of speech, but when you really look at it, it is like stating your whole daily routines: what you do, what you eat, what you wear, every step of the day. This becomes a hackers way of taking away your identity. Trust me, people do NOT like to read such statuses. Who wants to know the most intimate details about you or your lifestyle? Maybe your boyfriend, but the rest of the world.

It is absolutely true that Facebook has given us the rights to do anything within our boundaries, but we have to know what is ethical and what is not. Facebook is not going to give you your life code of conduct. It is supposed to come with your package from birth. These are not the only crazy things we see today. We come across various fan pages, groups and events that are left empty or inactive. By doing so, you are wasting precious storage space. We also come across ridiculous competitons that take away a person’s privacy. Recently, I came across this competition called the Miss and Master Facebook Sri Lanka 2010. It is a competition that automatically registers you, and if you are good looking enough then you wil be selected as one of the contestants. After that, the nation votes for you. The best part is you have no idea you are in the competition until you see your picture; This results in privacy being taken away. Not only do they take away your privacy, there selection of women and men are bad too!

It is true engough Facebook has not set up copy right protection laws, but we users join Facebook thinking that though protection laws are not set up, people will have more common sense and understanding about privacy, and not invade them. This shows the standard of people.

Do not misue it’s service and rights. Our lives revolve around the shades of it. Though. maybe rights are not given, just do not misuse it. Think about how it will affect other people. More than profits and fans, people lives and privacy is way more priceless.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.Of course, the sand filled up everything else.He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.’Now,’ said the professor, as the laughter subsided,’I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things – family, children, health, Loved ones, and Favorite passions –Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.The sand is everything else –The small stuff.’If you put the sand into the jar first,’ He continued,’there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,You will never have room for the things that are important to you. So…Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.Play With your children.Take time to get medical checkups.Take your partner out to dinner.Spend some time with your Parents. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.’Take care of the golf balls first –The things that really matter.Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled.’I'm glad you asked’.It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’

The golf balls are the important things – family, children, health, Loved ones, and Favorite passions –Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car. The sand is everything else –The small stuff. ’If you put the sand into the jar first,’ He continued, ’there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, You will never have room for the things that are important to you. So… Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Play With your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Spend some time with your Parents. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. ’Take care of the golf balls first – The things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. ‘One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. ’I'm glad you asked’. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’

We meet people in our life everyday. Some of them stay with us forever while some just vanish away from your life.. At times it may be the most unexpected person in your life, who will stand by you when you need someone so desperately by your side. While the most expected, will just seem to be nowhere near you. This is how the world revolves around.

It’s pretty much obvious that none of us can stand alone and live in this world. No one can live in isolation. We all need each other for our distinct survival. That’s the same reason which made this world a cruel place to live in. If you take the majority, they come to you to get their job done, once they get it done, they are off. When you are trying to climb up the ladder of success, they pull you down from your leg and get you down and they get up. This is the sad but yet, the ugly truth. I’m not pointing out that each and every person is like this, but in general if you look at the world in a broader view, this is what you can see.

We all have emotions. We all care for our loved ones. We are compelled by our own conscience to trust each other when we get closer and closer. But are we doing the right thing when we start trusting the person next to us? Who knows for what he/she is standing right next to you? This is where people really wish that they had the power to read each others minds. It may sound childish and like a part of a fairy tale movie, but being a human and being covered by emotions, this is what any person who may call themselves the strongest, would wish for, deep down inside.

Even the smallest thing may seem so big, when a hitch in your trust comes up. It’s unavaoidable. Its natural. But being given a life by nature/god is the biggest gift any person can get, and lets not make a hitch in trust, ruin up this wonderful and magical life which has been given to us. Life is a whole big challenge, and all of us are naturally talented to overcome all those problems which comes up infront of us, nomatter what it is, ranging from a Tsunami to being disabled, we all have the courage to stand up. Afterall, what’s the point of living your life if you dont have a challenge to overcome and the satisfaction you gain after you do it? That’s what you really call living your life to the fullest. What I wanna say through all of these is that you should trust in yourself more than anything else. You never know what life has in store for you and you never know how and when it will come up on you and hit you in your back. There are people whom we can trust and who will never break up. But it takes time to figure out who and where they are, and as i have mentioned earlier, it may be the most unexpected person in your life.

We all fall down in our lives at some point and at that point we should learn how to stand up straight on our own. Not with the help of anyone else. We should first start believing in ourselves and start trusting ourselves before trusting anyone else. Then we should start getting up. You may fall over and over again. But nomatter how much you fall you will try to get up. It may be 100 times, it may be 200 times or it may be some uncountable number of times, but despite how many times it is, the more you try the more you succeed. For an example, just imagine a soldier who has lost his legs due to the war. His life has been a misery eversince. But he never gives up hope. He falls. But despite the fact that he falls and knowing that down there he has no help to get up, he never gives up. He uses his hands to get up.

Help is always there for the ones who need it in whichever way it can be. Also despite the fact that this world is a cruel place to live in, exceptions do prevail. Rather than trusting on other people, first you should trust on yourself. That’s when you will find trust in other people. That’s when you will understand what life really is……………

“Hello” or “Hi”: the first word spoken under normal circumstances, generally followed by a smile, when we meet a new person who is a total stranger to us.
When we utter these words we never think of anything beyond that; we just speak these to be polite and to be nice to a stranger.
Sometimes we unintentionally keep in touch with this stranger afterwards. After few weeks we start to communicate with them more and more and we get to know them. Then a few months later, this stranger becomes a best friend of yours who you talk to regularly and spend most of your time with. As time passes by you become best buddies with this person you met few months ago and it comes to a point where he or she becomes someone important in your life, whom you trust the most and share all your darkest secrets with this and vice versa. You become so loyal and close to this person, and you start to think that the two of you are meant to be one and will be best friends for life….
As time passes you start arguing over issues. After an argument, you get back to normal and continue to be best buddies. This goes on for some time and then suddenly this person who you thought was meant to be with you for life gets away from you, sometimes due to a fault of yours and sometimes for no reason fathomable.
You try your best to get things back to normal. You do everything you could do. You say sorry in a thousand different ways and cry yourself to sleep. But whatever you do, you cannot get that person back to normal again.
You start to regret it and you become depressed. You try not to show it on the outside. You wait for a call or text from that person and when you don’t get any, you become more upset. You feel that life is completely unfair.
In the meantime, you meet many new people who are better than this best friend of yours, whom you happened to meet a few years back. Yet you never make friends with them because your eyes are filled with tears and you cannot see what great people you come across. You miss many great things in life because you are weeping over the lost friend without moving on, while that other friend of yours has moved on.
Although you miss the past and the fun times you had with this great friend, you should start to move past them. You should try to make new friends, have fun in life and try to forget the past and most of all you should not let that past haunt you.
You could always welcome the old friend if he wants to come back, but never weep and stay for your friend. You should move on and if your friend comes back, and then take him or her back. We should always remember that in life we make friends and lose friends. And no matter what, we should continue with our journey of life. Any friend who likes us the way we are will be with us. The others will drop out. Do not be discouraged and keep the friends who are with you close to you. Just move on as you will find many other great things ahead. But that’s only if you move on.
As I write this article, I know so many people around the world are crying over lost friendship. Do not worry, you will find many pleasant things ahead. BE HAPPY, MOVE ON AND BE WITH PEOPLE WHO LIKE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND DO NOT CRY OVER SPILT MILK!!!
P.S This article is open for discussion, please do contribute your ideas and let me know if I am wrong anywhere… Critics are welcome. I would be uploading a separate extract for the people who are weeping over their lost friendship, which I believe would help you make up your mind like it did for me…
